Nancy E. Tweedale, 75, of Cicero, NY died unexpectedly on January 10, 2020 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident while on vacation in Arizona with her sister, Jean Simmons.
Nancy was born on August 2, 1944, in Oneonta, NY. Nancy worked her entire life in order to support her family after the unexpected loss of her husband, Donald Tweedale in 1987. Throughout her life, Nancy worked at Crucible Steel, MJ Candle Factory, Osmonics, BJ's Wholesale, Dunkin Donuts and she retired from the Rite-Aid Distribution center in 2016. Nancy was an avid sports fan, there wasn't a sport she wouldn't watch. Syracuse University basketball was her go to and all-time favorite. More than SU, Nancy loved to watch her grandkids play their respective sports. Nancy was especially excited to see her granddaughter play softball at the next level in college. Most knew her as Grammy, the kindest most selfless woman in the room who would never turn down an adventure, a sporting event, a card game or a trip to the casino. Grammy will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the family dog, Murphy whom she spent most of her days with.
Nancy is survived by her son, Donald Tweedale (Sue Rebh Tweedale) of Syracuse, her daughter, Melissa Tweedale Sisco (Bill Sisco) of Cicero with whom she lived for the past 14 years, her grandchildren, Shannon and Matthew Sisco and Abigail and Mary Kate Tweedale, her sisters Jean Simmons of Binghamton and Susan Evans of Syracuse, her brothers Bill and Charlyn Christman of Oneonta, Gary "Pete" and Joanna Christman of Oneonta, Charlie and Nancy Christman of Cooperstown, Paula Christman of Oneonta, Kathy (Tweedale) and Gary Robb of North Syracuse, Ellie (Tweedale) Hackett of Saratoga, many cousins, nieces and nephews and her casino buddy Carol Vurraro of North Syracuse and card buddy Roberta O'Connor of North Syracuse.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Tweedale, her parents, Theresa and Alexander Christman, her brothers and sister and brother-in laws, Theodore Christman and Sue Christman, Albert Christman, Clifford Simmons, her in-laws, Donald and Katherine Tweedale and Laurie Tweedale her sister-in-law.
Friends may call at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main, North Syracuse, NY from 12-2pm on Saturday, January 18. There will be a memorial service immediately following at the funeral home.
