Nancy Mathews passed away peacefully on December 25th.
Her life was spent as a kind and gentle woman who loved all living things. She appreciated the beauty of every flower or plant that she came across. She had a huge heart for animals of all kinds. Most important to her was her family. Even though she was soft spoken, she was the strong center that supported them all throughout her life.
Nancy graduated from North High School where she met many of her lifetime friends. Most of her life she lived as a Syracuse resident among good friends and neighbors. She retired after working many years for Onondaga County's Social Services Department.
She was predeceased by her parents Nunzio and Giosipina Scaravillo, her brother Samuel Scaravillo, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Shirley Scaravillo, Nicholas and Ellie Scaravillo.
Nancy is survived by her loving family, who will miss her dearly, including her children; Micheal Mathews-Rogers (the late Jim), Debra Dolasinski (the late Steven), Pamela Mandara, John Mathews and Christine Mathews and her nephew James Scaravillo and her niece Diane Rodighero (Jeffrey).
She was also a beloved grandmother to Mark Mandara (Erin), Amanda Dolasinski, Matthew Mandara, Lisa Dolasinski, Michael Mandara and Steven Dolasinski (Klaire). She was also a great grandmother to Sage Mandara.
Calling hours for Nancy will be held on January 8, 2023 from 10am to 12pm at New Comer, N. Syracuse, with a service to follow. A private burial will be held in the spring.
