Nadine Ann Swank Timko Skvarch

September 26, 1948 — January 9, 2022

Nadine Ann Swank Timko Skvarch, died on January 09, 2022 from a short illness. Nadine was born July 26, 1948, to Wallace Beeson Swank and Hazel Lucille Bacon Swank. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Jay B. Swank; and husbands, Andrew W. Timko and William Skvarch Jr. Nadine grew up in Syracuse and went to Westhill High School where she participated in musical theater and band.

Nadine graduated from Onondaga Community College with a degree in music, and graduated from Murray State University in Kentucky with a BS in social work. She married Drew W. Timko in 1975 and was lead singer in their 5-piece band until 1986, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. When she returned to Syracuse, she worked for the Onondaga County Department of Social Services. In 1992, Nadine married her high school sweetheart and first love, Bill Skvarch Jr. They lived happily together in Syracuse and in Goose Bay, New York until 2010, when God called Bill home.

From her college days until 1992 she worked for veterinary hospitals in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and New York. Animals were her passion, and she usually had 6 pets at a time. She was very active in animal rescue, sharing her money, time, and home with dozens of strays over the years, and finding homes for them. Nadine was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and worked in their food pantry.

Nadine is survived by her three stepsons, Niels (Cyndi), Erik (Renee), and Lars; four grandchildren, Emily, Owen, Isabell, and William Skvarch III; her Skvarch in-laws, Peter (Sarah), James (Mary), Michael (Paula), Therese Palen (Jay), and Katherine Stieb; four cousins; her Hanley step-family; and lifelong friends, Carolyn Lathey and Barbara Jean Baker. She will be remembered by her many other longtime friends.

Per her wishes, a private graveside service for the family will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours or service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Congregational Church, 232 E. Onondaga St., Syracuse, NY 13202, or to Wayward Paws Cat Rescue, 9048 Delphi Falls Road, New Woodstock, NY 13122
