Nada M. Owen

Nadazhda "Nada" Mary Owen, 83, formerly of "The Valley" and North Syracuse went to be with her Lord on Saturday surrounded by her loving husband and family at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Yugoslavia the daughter of the late Dimitri and Marian Georgevich, she was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Mrs. Owen was a 30 year member of Buckley Road Baptist Church. Nada retired from Bank of New York in 1986. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports.
She was a devoted wife, mother and "Nana" and was cherished by her family. She exemplified love, patience and selflessness her entire life and has left her legacy of faith with her family.
She was predeceased by a sister Vera Ames and a brother Gene Georgevich.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Frederick K. Owen, Jr.; two sons, Frederick K., III (Catherine) of Syracuse and Rev. Philip W. (Tonia) Owen of Springville, NY; two daughters, Deborah (Gene) Adragna of Liverpool and Nancy (Douglas) Wicks of N. Syracuse; a sister, Nora Bartman of Port Orange, Fl.; a sister-in-law, Emogene Georgevich of E. Syracuse; 12 grandchildren, Andrea and Joseph Adragna, Doug (Karen) Wicks, Christine (Jim) Dano, Lyndsey (Rob) Nicholson, Lauren (Greg) Usherwood, Garrett and Jordan Owen, Jessica (Drew) Payne, Alyssa (Brett) Moody, Benjamin and Jared Owen. and three great-grandchildren, Douglas and Kyle Wicks and Brooke Nadazhda "The Baby" Nicholson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Nada's life will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:30 am at Buckley Road Baptist Church at Buckley and Bear Road, Liverpool.
In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc. of Syracuse.
