Muriel (Gilmour) LaPoint, 81, of Brighton Ave, Syracuse died Tuesday at home. Born in Springfield, Long Island, Mrs. LaPoint has been in the Syracuse area for the past 61 years. She was employed at Crouse Hinds, GE and Sweet Heart Market. She was a member of the Mattydale Fire Dept. Auxillary. She is predeceased by her husband, Ernest LaPoint who died February 17, 2004.
She is survived by one daughter; Barbara (Frank) Hoffman of Spring Hill, FL, four sons; John (Maureen) of Chattanooga, TN, Mike (Alaina) of Clay, Paul (Dawn) of Syracuse and Chris (Audrey) of North Syracuse, two sister-in-laws; Dorothy Johnson of Lafayette and Bernice LaPoint of Liverpool, two brother-in-laws; Robert of Syracuse and Richard of Hastings, 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren and 29 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:30-7:30 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street. Contributions in Muriel's memory may be made to Hospice of Central New York.
