Moston H. "Mo" Yank, 95, born in Inlet, Quebec, Canada, entered the Lord's Kingdom peacefully on September 7th with his family by his side at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 70 years. He served in WWII in the U.S. Navy in Guam and Saipan on the U.S.S. Frederick Funston. He received the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. He retired from New Process Gear with 39 years service holding the position of skilled tradesman and serving as a Steward and committeeman with UAW Local 624. He loved his daily glass of wine, the N.Y. Giants, western movies and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He was looking forward to watching the new season of "Dancing with the Stars."
He was predeceased in 1992 by his wife Melva, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, and by sisters Irene, Rita, Evelyn, and Lela. He leaves behind his daughter Karen (Balch); son Darryl and grandson Darryl II; the loves of his life, grandchildren Alana (CJ) Munoz (Murlin) and Matthew Murlin, who affectionately called him "Guck"; and a great- grandchild to be born in March. He leaves behind nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and knew him as "Uncle Mossy."
The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses at The Hearth at Greenpoint, Iroquois Nursing Home, and St. Joseph's Hospital for their kindness and support.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Services will be held on Wednesday 10am at the funeral home.
