Minnie (Rao) Cavanaugh

Minnie (Rao) Cavanaugh, 86, of Mattydale, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Sunday, October 24th. Minnie was born in Syracuse to the late Girolama and Vincenzo Rao. She retired from Chrysler after 25 years of service. Minnie was an avid sewer, amazing cook; but most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. She was grounded in her Christian faith and looked forward to Heaven. Her children could not imagine having a better Mother.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Dominick Rao, Anna Marra, Mary Gilmour, Rose Goodison, Vincent Rao, John Rao and Theresa Chipperfield.

Minnie is survived by her five children, Lisa Gregoire of Rio Rancho, NM, Patricia Lima of Syracuse, NY, Vicki (Anthony) Bugge of Syracuse, NY, Mark (Berislava) Cavanaugh of Liverpool, NY and Diana Cavanaugh of Mattydale, NY; sister, Jeanette Lozeau of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Enrique (Meghan) Carrasco, Nicole (Brent Vanderwyk) Neita, Jessica (Kevin) Rojek, David (Tawnie Gerber) LaBounty, Anthony (Ondrea) Bugge, Zoran (Kar-Lai) Gambiroza, Zachary Bugge, Genevieve Lima; great-grandson, Kian Rojek and baby Carrasco coming in April 2022 and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 28th 10 AM – 12 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 12 PM. Burial will be held in Assumption Cemetery.
