Milton P. Steckel

Milton P. "Mook" Steckel, 81, of Camillus died Wednesday. A native of Allentown, Pa. he grew up on the West Side of Syracuse. Milt retired from G.B. Stringer Hardware in 1995 following 42 years. After retirement he worked as a consultant for several architect firms. Mook enjoyed tinkering, was the ultimate handyman, could fix anything and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bingo, playing cards and crossword puzzles. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former, Bernadette "Bunny" Palmer; daughters, Donna (Rick) Molta, Shelly Bullard and Sheila (Chuck) Horsford; sons, Paul, David (Jeanne), Alan and James Steckel; brother, Joseph (Pat) Steckel; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 2-5 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
