Mildred Elizabeth Scharf Paragone
Mildred S. Paragone died peacefully on May 5, 2013. Millie was born on January 28, 1924 and raised in Queens, NY. She then resided in Lake Ronkonkoma for many years before moving to Basking Ridge, NJ where she was a communicant of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. After almost 30 years, she moved to Annandale, NJ and then to Arizona.
Her adult life was spent as a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and caretaker. Her many talents included sewing, needle crafts, cooking, and juggling a busy household schedule.
She had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, and dancing. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, in 1996, after 52 years of marriage.
Surviving children include Michael (Linda) of Chandler, AZ, Susan (Stuart) Allen of Baldwinsville, NY, Gary (Jennifer) of Glastonbury, CT, Brian (Deborah) of Lebanon, NJ, Robin of West Chester, PA, and Steven (Deborah) of Yardville, NJ. Millie is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandsons, her sister, Edna (Jack) Cunningham of Sun Lakes, AZ, a brother Leonard (Blanche) Scharf of Williamsburg, VA. A sister, Doris Henley, predeceased her in 2011.
A memorial service will be held July 14, 2013 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: McHarrie Life Foundation 7740 Meigs Rd. Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
