Michael J. Scanlon, 80, of Seneca Falls, passed away September 30, 2024. Michael was born in Syracuse, New York on April 3, 1944 to Walter and Janet Scanlon.

Michael was a veteran of the United States Navy and served a tour in the Vietnam War, where he was exposed to Agent Orange. He used his experience and hardships after exposure to Agent Orange to help others in need. He was incredibly selfless, and put others first. He later went on to retire after many years of working as a Registered Nurse. In his free time, he loved to travel, going on many adventures with his family, camping with his children and always made the best out of any trip. Michael was a loving person and very involved in his community. 

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Martha Scanlon; Sons, Robert and Stephen Brister; Grandson, Christian Matheny; Father, Walter Scanlon; Mother, Janet “Markland” Scanlon; Sister, Judy (Bob) VanOstrand; and Brother, Francis (Sheila) Scanlon.

He is survived by his Son, Michael V. (Kelly) Scanlon; Five Daughters, Meredith (Richard) Willis, Rachel (Shane) Farrelly, Louanne (Michael) Montrois, Becky (Don) Dwyer, Stephanie (Shannon) Lee; Two Brothers, Carl (Judy) Scanlon, Ronald (Linda) Scanlon; 19 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; and many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Michael leaves behind a beautiful family legacy and will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life and Graveside Service is to Be Announced at a Later Date.
