Michael N. Grillo

Michael N. Grillo, 89, of N. Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday. Mike was born in Syracuse to Santo and Lillian (Ferrante) Grillo. Mike served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to1946. He worked with his father at the Syracuse Fruit Co. and then with Rocco's Floor Covering before joining the U.S. Post Office. He retired in 1980, enjoying many years traveling and spending time with his family. Mike was a long time member of the Lutheran Church and active in the choir. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and NASCAR. He was predeceased by his son Michael, twin brother Joe and sisters Nancy and Emily.
Mike is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Dorothy (Dicke) Grillo; a loving father to Lillian (Bill) Azzoto, Judith (Dan) Burrows, James (Patricia) Grillo, and daughter in-law, Sherri Grillo; devoted grandfather of Melissa (Nate) Azzoto-Pickard, Bill and Jeffrey Azzoto, Keirsten and Daniel Burrows, and Stacey Haberer.
Also surviving Mike are brothers, Sam (Sally), Louis (Dolly) and Nick (Gen) Grillo; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Cicero. Burial will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse.
