Michael J. Martin, 38, of North Syracuse passed away Monday after his battle with Muscular Dystrophy. He was predeceased by his father, Edmund Martin in 2006. Regardless of his ever present physical challenge he lived his life to the fullest and never let his disability affect his attitude. His high school years were spent at CNS where he earned the overall Social Studies Award receiving an overwhelming standing ovation. Mike early on became a Sci-fi enthusiast and an avid Star Trek fan. Mike loved to dance in his wheel chair and during the annual MDA Marathon. Mike attended OCC and spent much of his free time as an Orange fan and Cowboy fan. Mike was awarded "Fantasy Football Champion" of 2007. After college, Mike spent the rest of his days by bringing encouragement and joy to his many friends, nurses, family and all that crossed his path. Mike received outstanding care by Dr. E. Sivak, who graciously made monthly house calls.
Surviving are his mother; Barbara (Holmes) Martin, sisters; Linda Martin, Mary Martin-Koski and Kelly Travis, brothers; Kevin Martin and John Martin, nieces and nephews; JD Travis, Cassidy Travis, Colleen Koski, Chris Koski Jr., Casey Martin, CJ Martin and Dory Martin.
Services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 N Main St., North Syracuse.
