Michael J. Flaherty, 83, formerly from Solvay, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in North Syracuse, Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
Mike was born on November 19, 1934. He was 1 of 12 children born to Frances and Thomas Flaherty.
He joined the US Navy in 1954 until 1958. He was a radar man in the OI Division on the USS Taconic in 1956, an amphibious force command ship.

He loved sitting around the kitchen table with family, coffee, and of course something sweet to eat. He had a passion for aircraft history and watching old war movies, especially about the Navy. He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, but dear to his heart were his Irish tunes.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Beverly A. Flaherty, his son Robert J. Flaherty, and his granddaughter, Renee L. Deep.
Surviving are his beloved daughters: Luanne Reynolds, Joanne (William)Deep, Mary (Jerry) Rogers, and Colleen (Kenneth) Kugler , 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in North Syracuse.
The family will have a private burial at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, in Parish NY this spring.
In lieu of flowers, his wish was for people to donate to their favorite charity, or Alzheimer's research in honor of his brother.
