Michael Mark Beck IV

Michael Mark Beck IV, finally let the warrior go and joined the heavens on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Born in Albany, NY on April 19, 1969. He was the son of Patricia (Mahar) and Michael T Beck III. He graduated from Corcoran High School in 1988 and went on to join the Army, serving from August 1988 to August 1991. Michael served during Operation Desert Storm. Michael was a Marksman-Rifle, M-16 Expert, and Grenade Specialist. He has many decorations/medals - Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2

Bronze Stars! He came home and rarely spoke of his time during Operation Desert Storm. Michael was in the reserves until 1996.

Mike is survived by his two beloved children, Piper and Ellery and their mother, Kristin Beck (ex-wife); his sisters, Maggie Vadala, Patti Beck, and Kristen Beck as well as his ‘favorite’ brother-in-law, Danny Vadala; nieces, Katy McNitt (Tyler) and Molly Vadala (Zach); uncle, Chris (Fran) Beck and uncle, Chris (Sue) Schaefer; along with many Mahar and Beck cousins and many good friends. Mike’s best buddy was a fur baby named Duncan who passed away in February of 2021.

Michael loved his Mustang, Kayaking, camping, his Irish Heritage, HIS GIRLS, and of course a cold BEER!

Michael has battled Cancer for more than a year and he is our WARRIOR for fighting the good fight. He never complained and was willing to try anything that would help him survive. 

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Veteran's Association in Syracuse or The Alzheimer's Association.

We will spread his ashes in a private ceremony over the rocks and the Hudson River at The Glen. He would like the song, One Last Drink played by Enter The Haggis. Mike wanted everyone to know, “He lived a long good life, and celebrate it for me.”

There will be a celebration of life held at the American Legion, the date and time is still to be determined.
