Merton C. Walts, 65 of Fayetteville and formerly of Clayton, NY passed away after a brief illness at home, surrounded by family on Sunday.
Mert was employed at Carrier Corporation for 42 years. He had a great love for boating, fishing and navigating the St. Lawrence River. He also enjoyed reading, building models and model trains. He was a member of The Sons of The American Legion in Eastwood.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Jean, children; Richard (Jackie), John and Kim (Joe), his brother; Bill, his aunt; Janette and cousins. Papa will be missed by his grandchildren; Alyssa, Jordan, Carly and Erica and his beloved dog Crystal.
Calling hours will be 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday with services to follow immediately at 7:00 pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main S., N. Syracuse. Burial will be private.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
