Melissa A. O'Hara Karle

Melissa Anne "Mitzi" (Patzer) O'Hara Karle, age 87, passed away at home on Friday, January 8, 2021, after a long battle with COPD and CHF, with her family by her side. She was born on September 25, 1933 in Syracuse, New York to the late, John and Freida Patzer.

Melissa loved to go out to eat, shop, spending time with her family, travel and read. Her favorite genre was murder mysteries and her favorite places to travel were the Adirondacks, Old Forge and Lake George. She had a passion for QVC and she loved sweets. Mitzi was generous, witty, good-hearted and loved her family very much.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Karle and her first husband, Jerome O'Hara, Sr.; brother, Robert Patzer and Karl Patzer; stepson, Douglas Karle; and her grandson, Ryan LaPlante.

Surviving are her children, Janet O'Hara Clute, Jerome O'Hara, Jr. (Allison), Deanne O'Hara Hall (Paul), Vicki O'Hara DeDio, James O'Hara (Michele), Sandra O'Hara Pierce (Michael); stepchildren, Joanne Karle Leach (Steven), Steven Karle (Samantha); 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm with private service to follow at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 705 N. Main Street, N. Syracuse, NY. A celebration of Mitzi's life will be held at a later and safe date to be announced. Melissa will be forever loved and missed by her family.
