Melinda Spielman, 76, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully May 20, 2021 at the Francis House.
Melinda was born in Bayshore, New York on March 10, 1945 to the late Rudolph and Martha Balkau. She attended Union Springs Academy, Class of '64 and graduated from South Lancaster Academy in South Lancaster, MA. She then attended Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA where she studied home economics, education and design. She taught briefly at Perkins School in South Lancaster. She used her design and education skills throughout her life. She operated a daycare prior to her clerical work at Cornell University, Stanley Kaplan, and Onondaga County, where she retired. She was a pastor's wife for many years. Melinda's primary role in life was to take care of her family. She always went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt special and included.
She was an avid gardener, and a wonderful homemaker. She had been an active member of the 7th Day Adventist Church for many years.
Melinda was predeceased by a son, Peter Spielman; and a brother, Robert Balkau. She is survived by husband of 53 years, David Spielman; daughter, Amy Spielman; three nieces, Michelle (Charles) Lang, Kristina Spielman, and Cheryl Balkau; two nephews, Timothy Balkau, Kevin Balkau; brother in law, John (Diane) Spielman; and several cousins.
Visitation will take place Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals - North Syracuse, 705 N. Main St, Syracuse, with a service to follow.
