May E. Dorn, 92, passed away on Sunday.

May was born on May 9, 1923 the daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline Sparrow. May was an environmentalist and was very active in politics. She enjoyed children and was an avid bird watcher. May and her daughter, Edith, funded a scholarship for Environmental Law at Syracuse University. She was a member of the Syracuse Peace Counsel and authored a book about the Keck Windows at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kathleen Furlong.

May is survived by her son, Ronald M. (Kathy) Dorn, daughters, Edith Miller, Ellen Childress, son, Alfred (Carol) Dorn, grandchildren, Robin, Christofer, Jason, Rebecca, Eden Mabee, Eric, Nona, Kyle, great grandchildren, Mazu, Marcus, Ryan, Sean, great grandchild, Griffin, a great great grandchild, Amillia, along with nieces, nephews and their families.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clay, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dorn-Sparrow Scholarship Fund, Syracuse University.
