Maurice “Moe” Boynton, beloved father and grandfather, skilled mechanic, and avid Harley rider, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by family and friends.
Maurice was born in Syracuse, New York on March 10, 1957, to the late Maurice M. and Henrietta J. (Angiolillo) Boynton. Moe was a lifelong car enthusiast, a passion he inherited from his early years working on engines with his father, and one that he has in turn passed on to his own son. Whether on four wheels or two, Moe’s love for engines and the freedom they brought was a defining part of his life.
As the owner of Moe’s Auto Shop, his straightforward honesty, expert skills and genuine love for cars made him a go-to mechanic for many. Whether sharing his knowledge or a good laugh, Moe had an ability to connect with people, and he was a true friend, leaving a lasting impact on both his family and his circle of friends.
He was a mentor to many, but especially to his son, Adam, who was by his side in the shop for years and will carry on his life’s work through the business.
He is survived by his daughter, Laura (Drew) Boynton; son, Adam Boynton; two grandchildren, Lucas and Adeline; brother, Mark (Meg) Boynton; sisters, Patricia Tubbs, Jeanne Bovenzi; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Barbara Buckley.
At Maurice’s request, there will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
“Ride in peace, your memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved you”
