In the passing of Matthew P. DeBottis of Cicero on Sunday our family lost a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, a son-in-law and a dear friend.
Matt was the father of 17 year old Daniel Cody DeBottis; A husband of 22 years to the former Deborah Ann Gardner; A son born to Barbara Buckley DeBottis on October 27, 1960; A grandson to Dolores LeBeau; He was a brother to Melvin (Hollie) DeBottis, Marcus (Joanne) DeBottis and a brother "from another mother," Charles (Kim) Crouse; sisters, Shelley LeBeau and Melodi DeBottis; He was the son-in-law of Sheldon (Rose) Gould; He had several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Matt was a retired Jail Deputy of 14 years from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office. He was previously employed as a Corrections Officer at the Jamesville Penitentiary.
He loved to hunt and fish with his brothers and was a member of the Clay Sportsman Club in Clay, NY.
He graduated from Henniger High School in 1979 and Onondaga Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Arthur and Doris Buckley, a brother, Michael DeBottis and a sister, Melissa DeBottis.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at the New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services and burial in Onondaga Valley Cemetery will be private.
Contributions may be made to the Daniel DeBottis Education Fund C/O Shelley Lebeau, 12 Bayberry Circle, Liverpool, New York 13090 or to the CNS Boy's Soccer Program in Matt's memory.
