Mathilde E. Mondorf
April 25, 2015
Mathilde Mondorf passed away after an extended illness.
Born Mathilde E. Ruggaber in Heidelberg Germany on September 28, 1938, she was the eighth of twelve children of George and Anna Ruggaber. George died during WWII and while the family endured many hardships, they were grateful that they could be together. She emigrated from Germany to Hamilton, Ontario Canada in 1956 with a number of her siblings. There she met and married Reinhard Mondorf, her husband of over 56 years who survives her. The family then immigrated to Syracuse in 1960.
Mathilde was predeceased by her parents George & Anna Ruggaber, her siblings Chrystle, Eva, Willie, Karl, Felix (Gertrud), Hanna, & George.
Her siblings Clemens (Patricia), Rudolph (Joan), Elizabeth (Fred), and Anna Rose survive her. Mathilde is also survived by son John (Cheryl) of Binghamton, NY, daughter Marion Woll (Mark) of Waterloo, Ontario Canada, and daughter Suzanne Runge (Michael) of Myrtle Beach SC. Oma is also survived by grandchildren Bethany Ernst (Jamie) Benjamin Woll (Loan), Juliet Woll, Joelle Mondorf, Nicole Mondorf, David Runge, Jamie Runge and Jonathan Runge as well as many nieces and nephews, (both official and unofficial).
Mathilde was a long time member of the New Apostolic Church joyfully (but bashfully) lending her voice to the volunteer choir and gladly contributing her matzo ball soups, German potato salads and linzer torte desserts to the many social events over the years. Mathilde will always be remembered for her love of family, her unending generosity and the joy she gave to so many others. We will miss her smile.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday April 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 at The New Apostolic Church, 7045 Buckley Rd N. Syracuse with a service to follow at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc.
