Maryann Anthony passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024, after a beautiful, long life. She was 98.
Born June 14, 1926, the fourth of five children of Alfred and Angela Sorrendino, she was a native of Syracuse, graduating from Vocational High School in 1944.
Maryann was a devoted wife of 62 years to the late Carl Anthony, a beloved mother to her six children, and an adored Meme to her 14 grandchildren and an increasing brood of great grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Therese parish, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. After retirement, she and Carl moved to N. Syracuse, where they attended Sacred Heart Church of Cicero and gave pre-Cana advise to young couples about to marry and hoping for the kind of deep and lasting marriage Carl and Maryann enjoyed.
Maryann was warm, friendly and caring, with a ready smile and the best hugs. All who had the privilege to know her, to get a hug from her, will miss her.
In addition to her husband Carl, she was predeceased by her brother (Carl) and her 3 sisters (May, Lena and Gloria); by her daughter Carol Marie Keenan (Daniel); and by grandsons Brian D. Keenan and Robert R. Litcher.
Maryann is survived by her sons Michael (Karen), Jeff (Angela) and Chris (Anne), and daughters Linda Conley (Michael) and Therese Litcher (Reed); and by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for the gentle and compassionate care Maryann received from the Nurses and Support Staff of St. Camillus, C-Unit.
Family and friends may call on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with a memorial service to follow.
