Mary Ellen Whidden

Mary Ellen Whidden, 93, of Brewerton, passed away on February 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Mary Ellen was born in Syracuse on May 9, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Rosalie Easterly. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years in the Syracuse area. Mary Ellen enjoyed reading, sewing, and being with her family. She will be remembered for her caring personality and for her compassion towards animals especially her beloved pets. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Mary Ellen was predeceased by her husband William of 61 years; her son, William B. Whidden; her sister, Rosemary Petit; and her brother, James Easterly.

She is survived by her son, William T. (Tamara) Whidden; two daughters, Patricia A. (Raymond) Main and Mary Kay (Ronald) Golden; five grandchildren, Daniel (Teresa) Main, MB Finocchiaro (Colin Murray), Stephanie (Matthew) Nichols, Peter Finocchiaro, and Anthony Finocchiaro; seven great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Barbara Easterly; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on March 3rd, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A funeral mass will be held on March 4th, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central New York SPCA in memory of Mary Ellen.
