Mary Margaret (Purcell) Phelps, 91, passed away October 27, 2024 at St. Camillus Nursing Home. She was born in Fabius, New York to James F. Purcell and Genevieve (Weider) Purcell. Mary was employed for more than 30 years for the Social Security Administration. She was known as "such a sweet lady" to all who knew her. She enjoyed being around people and listening to music. Music always made her happy and put a smile on her face.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Raymond (Shirley) Purcell and Edward (Carol) Purcell; and sister, Kate (Bernie) Hochstuhl.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janet (Ted) Lenkiewicz and Jane Mills; sister, Ruth Gooden; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Mary's wishes there will be no services. Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey.
To honor Mary, the family requests having a Mass dedicated in her name at your local church or a donation made in her memory to the Food Bank of CNY.
The family would like to thank the staff and their friends at St. Camillus Nursing Home for all the love and care given to Mary. They never ceased to make her smile and do a little dance.
