Mary (Theresa) Powers, 83, departed this life on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Iroquois Nursing after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born in DePeyster, NY to Margaret and Stuart Rickett, she lived in Syracuse most of her life. She retired from Traveler's Insurance and also worked at North Area Pediatrics, after graduating from OCC at age 67. Theresa enjoyed Volunteer work and attending SU sporting events, especially basketball. Theresa was devoted to her family and took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Stuart Rickett.
Theresa is survived by two sons, Bob (Dodee) and Dennis (Jackie) Powers; a daughter, Mary Ellen (Mark) Bielby; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Penny), Tracy (Kevin), Dean, Leigh, Jeremy, Kyle and Lauren; 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday, 7PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Friends are invited to visit with her family on Monday from 4-7PM, before services. Burial will be private.
Contributions in Theresa's name can be made to Hospice of CNY or the Alzheimer's Assn. of CNY.
