Mary Ellen Rabe

Mary Ellen Rabe, 83, passed away on March 5, 2025. She was born in Syracuse, NY on April 16, 1941, the daughter of the late Matthew and Norma Kerwin.

 She graduated from St. John the Baptist Academy and worked at the New York Telephone Co. until her marriage. She continued her career while raising her children in a loving home and retired from REEB Millwork after many years of service. She was lovingly called MeMe by all who knew her as she valued friendship and family. Mary Ellen never met a stranger that she didn’t want to chat with.

 She enjoyed going to lunch with “the girls” from High School. She cherished her relationships with her BUNCO friends from the Northside of Syracuse. She was most proud of the outstanding young adults her grandchildren became. She had a knack for remembering birthdays, loved decorating her home and spent time reading mysteries and completing word puzzles.

 Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Jennifer (Jeff) Watkins, John (Denise) Rabe and William (Sandra) Rabe; her grandchildren, Casey, Matthew, Daniel, Jordan, Benjamin and Sarah; her sister, Noreen McCall; her brother, Matthew (Ann) Kerwin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Baldwin.

 A Funeral Mass will by held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Mattydale, NY on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 10am. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the Mass at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY at a later date.
