The fullness of a life is never easy to capture, here are just a few words of remembrance that I'm sharing on behalf of Mary's family.

Mary will be remembered for her style and sharpness, her sense of adventure, her kindness, and her love for and support of the arts; especially opera.

Let me divert briefly though to Mary's love of picture taking, because she will long be remembered for being the eye behind the camera, and for sharing her photos and the stories of the people, places, and occasions that she captured. Today these photos give us all a sense of just how fully Mary lived her life.

Mary's zest for life is best captured by her style and with-it-ness. As you may have seen in the photos, Mary's style was evident from a very young age and her with-it-ness – or being "hip" – was certainly helped by her career in the North Syracuse Central School District, which kept her young. Mary would always show up to every event or family gathering dressed to the nines, often in kitten heels, and usually with some extra bling on her jacket or sweater. And if it was a birthday, there was always an ice cream cake in tow.

When Mary retired at age 67, her sense of adventure grew. There were more trips to New York City – usually for an opera, the theatre, sightseeing, or all three. There were trips to southern California to visit family, vacations in Bermuda and Hawaii, and cruises down the Danube and Rhine Rivers just to name a few.

Mary's kindness can be exemplified by the lives that she touched. From her friends and colleagues, those with whom she served on boards of various charitable and social organizations; to the many neighbors (close and down the street), to cashiers and sales representatives (especially those at select jewelry counters), her mail carrier, and even her doctors and nurses. By the way, Mary managed to avoid the hospitals this year of the pandemic and many of the medical personnel who saw her marveled at her youthful appearance at age 95.

And over the years, she never forgot to send a birthday card. Her thoughtfulness was evident each Christmas when there was always "a little something extra", as she put it… to open along with a card.

We would be remiss if we didn't mention Mary's love of theatre, the symphony, the Opera (especially the Opera of which she attended over 50), and generally all of the arts. She supported, shared, and passed down her love of the arts to her children and grandchildren. There were numerous trips to The Nutcracker each Christmas, to school dance recitals and theatre productions, trips to Glimmerglass, Toronto, and Chautauqua.

Mary was proud of her Italian heritage and above all, her family. We all have our own personal memories with Mary and will long remember the impact she had on us all.
