Mary Clark Burton, 87, passed away on Saturday peacefully in her home in Skaneateles. She was the second youngest child of Charles and Vera Van Buskirk Clark. She lived most of her life in Upstate New York and was born and raised in Skaneateles.
She will forever be remembered for her wonderful smile and hospitality when in her home all were welcomed. She was a kind, gentle soul with a quick wit and inquisitive mind. She was a great cook, baker, seamstress and avid reader. She was a graduate of Cornell University, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and worked as a substitute teacher. Mary was as comfortable milking cows as she was working in her kitchen.
Surviving are her children; Mary Beth, John, Matt, Carolyn, Paul, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by a son, James in July 2011 and a brother, David Clark Dec. 2011.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
