Marvin L (Verne) Philp 86, of North Syracuse went to be with the Lord early Saturday morning at his winter home in Georgia. He was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia early January. He was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, Oswego Maritime Foundation, A Brother of the Free and Accepted Masons for 64 years, having been raised in Artisan Lodge #84, Amsterdam, NY. A proud Veteran of the Merchant Marines during WWII and the Cold War. He lost both his brother Warren A age 54 and his loving wife Rosemary of 57 years to cancer.
He is survived by his sons Harold (Hal) W. and Jeffrey V. (Sherlene); granddaughter Jennifer (Nick); Great Grandaughter, Mackenzie, Great Grandson Mason; Step Grandson, Robert (Rebecca) Hammitt, Step- Great Granddaughter, Haelly and Kiersten and Step-Grandson Jonathan Hammitt.
Services will be 1 PM Saturday at the Northminster Presbyterian Church. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Spring burial will be at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery.
