Martin Francis Joyce

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Frances Joyce on June 28, 2024, at the age of 69. His warmth, unique sense of humor, generosity, and storytelling left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Martin was born in Syracuse, NY, on December 27, 1954—almost a Christmas baby—to the late Edward and Gladys (Zarzecki) Joyce. 

He attended Most Holy Rosary School, graduating in 1973. In May 1976, he received an Associate's degree in Accounting from Powelson Business Institute with honors and a Bachelor's Degree in accounting from Lemoyne College in May 1978. He spent most of his accounting career in the electrical contracting profession.

Martin loved traveling with his buddies to watch SU lacrosse. He was an avid reader, finishing up to four books a week. Marty was a good friend and was there for anyone in need.

He is survived by his siblings, brothers Thomas and Timothy, sister Marcia Ariola, his life partner Jo-Anne, grandson Kyle, and nieces Kelly, Kristen Joyce, and Amanda Ariola.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Brian Ariola, and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Beacham-Joyce.

Marty will be laid to rest at South Onondaga Cemetery with his parents on October 12, 2024, at 10am. Following his burial, a celebration of Marty's life will be held at Tanner Valley Golf Course, 4040 Tanner Road. Everyone who knew and loved him are invited to attend.
