Martha (Marty) Pauline Merrick, 96, passed away as she rested at Crouse Hospital on July 16th.
She was born in Pennsylvania on November 18, 1925. Marty worked alongside her brother and sisters at the family-owned Paddy's Ranch in Cicero, a well-known and popular restaurant, while being part of the General Electric workforce for decades. A dedicated communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, NY, her life-focus was family-oriented. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings whenever possible.
Marty is predeceased by her parents, Philip and Mary Marcek; sisters, Julia Traylour, Anne LaMantia, Margaret Cordrey, Nancy Wyak and Dorothy Merlin.
She is survived by her loving family beginning with her brother, James E. (Sandy) Merrick of Syracuse; nephews Doug and JP Merrick of Syracuse, NY; nieces: Linda LaMantia Privette of Round Hill, VA; Mary Martha LaMantia of Alexandria, VA; Patricia LaMantia Jorgenson of White Post, VA; Susan Traylour Lapp of Ellijay, GA; Mary Ann Davids of Hernandez, FL; and Lynn (Wayne) Frankenfield of Great Falls, VA. Through her family-focus, she maintained her familial connection to ancestors in Czechoslovakia who also mourn her passing.
The family gratefully celebrates the support and love given to her by nephew, Doug, who assisted in her care throughout her many years in North Syracuse.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 8229 Brewerton Street, Cicero NY 13039 on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Family and friends are invited to Marty's visitation between 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM followed by a mass beginning at 10:30 AM. At the conclusion of services, the procession will proceed to St. Mary's Cemetery, 4100 E. Genesee Street, Syracuse for her interment.
