Marlene J. Smith, 79, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Marlene was born in Syracuse on October 16, 1942 daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Tafel. Marlene retired from The Hearth in Syracuse. Marlene was all about her family. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Charles, her son, Michael White, sister, Elaine Vader.

She is survived by her children, Scott (Sanita) Newcombe, Patricia (Lance) Patterson, Robert White, Charles Smith (Nicole Meech), 11 grandchildren, Karen (Antoine) Burke, William Hughes, Brandon Hughes, Joseph White, Eugene Barns, Nichole Hunt, Dylan Newcombe, Deseray Bigness, Jada Smith, Charles Smith, III, Charleigh Smith, 17 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Frank Tafel, Edward Tafel, Michael (Cindy) Tafel, her sister, Lorrene Dunn, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 14th from 3-4pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals,705 N. Main St Syracuse, N. Syracuse with services at 4pm.
