Mark J. Irwin, Sr. 70, of Syracuse passed away on Sunday at his home. Mark was born on November 6, 1947, in Syracuse, the son of the late Seth and Else Irwin.
Mark is survived by his children, Mark J. (Amber) Irwin Jr., Christa Irwin (John Senesy), John Gardner (Angela Piech), Liam (Cara) Irwin, Timothy Irwin; and grandchildren, Arianna, Shea, Dylan, Ariana, and Christian. He is also survived by his brother, Seth Irwin, and his partner, Debbie Thompson.
A son, Christian Irwin, predeceased him.
In addition to his time in the service (Navy, both Vietnam and Desert Storm), Mark had a long career as a master tool and die maker. He loved music, not only as a fan (the Beach Boys were his favorite), but also playing in bands from his teenage years through the present. And he told awful jokes, which made them (and he) all the funnier.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-4pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, with services at 4pm.
