Mariya Yakuta, 75, of Syracuse, passed away October 5, 2023. Mariya was born in Derevyane, Rovenskaya, Ukraine on January 5, 1948 to the late Mephodiy and Nadiya Subot.
She was an active member of the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church and sang in the choir. Mariya was the light in any room she was in. If you were having a bad day she was great at uplifting your spirits and giving faithful words of wisdom.
She is survived by her son, Oleg (Angela) Yakuta; two granddaughters, Mariya Yakuta and Varvara Yakuta; a grandson, Daniel Yakuta; and her great-grandson, Dean Thomas.
Calling hours are Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals - North Syracuse, 705 N. Main St, Syracuse with a funeral service to follow.
