Marion Eleanor (Anderson, Lambert) Spears, age 90, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Born April 30, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Jessie and John Anderson. She married Wade Wagner Lambert in a Coast Guard Chapel on Staten Island in 1942. Marion became a widow after Wade died from cancer in 1973.
Together they had two children, Wade and Karen. Karen had four children: Jeffrey, Lateef, Paul and Laura. Lateef passed away in a construction accident in 2012. Karen has seven grandchildren. Wade had one daughter, Anice, and one grandson, Ryan. Wade married Janette Castro in 2010 and has two step-daughters, Athena and Alana.
Marion married Alfred Spears in 1986, and he died from cancer in 2006. She has two step children, Doug and Chris, and three step grandchildren.
Marion was a past President of the Syracuse Civic Social Club and Past Chief Daughter of Lady Douglas Lodge (Daughters of Scotia.) She loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She enjoyed attending church, being a partner at the Syracuse Vineyard for several years. When her health precluded leaving the nursing home, she attended Sunday worship there every week.
Calling hours will be at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, New York, on Sunday, September 21 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 22 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
