Marion "Dolora" E. Kurtz

Marion Eleanor Kurtz, 96, of Syracuse, passed away December 28, 2024. She was born to the late Charles and Anna Kurtz. Born and raised in Syracuse, she graduated in 1948 from Assumption High School. She then became a Franciscan Nun in 1948 and spent 24 blessed years as a teacher. Marion left the order in 1972 and taught for the Syracuse City School District until her retirement in 1995.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles, Howard, Rita and John and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, several extended family members, and friends. 

Marion enjoyed reading, spending time with friends and family and traveling to Florida. Her passion was being a volunteer at the Assumption Pantry for 20 years.

Marion always lived by her favorite commandment, the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Calling hours are Monday, January 6, 2024, from 11AM-1PM, with a service to follow at 1pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St. North Syracuse, NY 13212.
