The beautiful vibrant soul of Marilyn Joyce (Bryant) McManus of Syracuse slipped into eternal peace in the arms of her youngest daughter, Maria Kathryn, and her husband of 53 years, Michael on August 28, 2011, with family members at her bedside. Born in Binghamton, NY, June 28, 1938, to the late Everette and Kathryn (O'Brien) Bryant of Vestal, NY, Marilyn also joins son, Kevin who passed in 2010.

Survivors include husband, Michael of Syracuse, son Michael (Wendy) McManus of Atlantic City, NJ; daughters Maria Kathryn (Ken) Duthie of Medina, Ohio, Coleen of Arizona; brother, Kevin (Diana, "Sister in Spirit") Bryant of Camillus; nephews, Eric Bryant of Camillus, Dr. Marl Bryant of Jersey City, NJ; along with several cousins in cluding Dr. Terrance O'Brien of E. Syracuse.

Despite twelve years of fighting cancer, Marilyn was an exceptionally gifted wife and mother. These gifts she always shared with others. An accomplished artist of oils on canvas and wall sized murals, she also designed and made women's jewelry. All were things of beauty.

Marilyn's crown jewel of accomplishment was the pipe organ at Catholic Churches in four states during her four decades of inspiring and loving service to thousands of the faithful. Marilyn began her Organist career at her home parish in Vestal, NY in the fifties. Her last appointment (or "gig" as she laughingly called it) was as Principal Organist and Choral Director at the
Basilica of St. Lawrence in Ashville, NC. So, how do we say "Goodbye" to this bright light, to this glorious gift, that was Marilyn? The answer is "We Don't". Each day we hold her in our hearts and strive to be as kind and loving as she was.

For us who remain, her love will live on and her lessons will never be lost. Our family is indebted to many at this sorrowful time, especially to the Clinicians at Hematology and Oncology Associates and St. Joseph's Hospital, especially the Nursing Staff of 18-1 and Palliative Care Team. A Memorial Service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be announced at a later time.
