Marie B. Wheelden, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday after a courageous battle. She was born in Scranton, PA to Jerome and Hilda Eckweiler and grew up in Rome, NY. She lived and worked as a secretary in Bangor, ME, Schenectady, NY and Nashua, NH, before returning to Central NY in 1978.
She is survived by her children, Kathy (John) Maurillo, Michael (Laurie) Wheelden, James Wheelden and Maureen Wheelden; four grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Jack and Madelyn; siblings, Thomas Eckweiler, Joan Dombroske and Ginny (Mike) Carty; several nieces and nephews; and her grand dog, Shea.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 11AM-1PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will follow at 1PM at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
