Marie Ann Tighe (Tigey) Lorenzo, 85, of Syracuse, went home to her final resting place with Our Lord and Savior on February 22, 2025. Born on July 16, 1939, in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Hartwig) Tighe.
Marie graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School and Central City Business Institute. She dedicated 35 years of service to Carrier Corporation before her retirement. She was always very athletic, becoming a lifeguard at Thorndon Park and completing a long distance swim across Otisco Lake. She was an avid skier and member of The Ski Hawks. In recent years “Tigey” adopted gardening as a hobby and was a member of The Rose Society. She was a woman of many talents and interests, enjoying dancing, bowling, golfing, card playing, baking, and crafting. She also loved attending festivals in downtown Syracuse, always embracing the vibrant community spirit. Most importantly she was a loving mother to her three children. She also passed on her love of sports and was their biggest cheerleader at every game.
Marie is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Ann Lorenzo and Gina Marie Lorenzo; cherished grandchildren, Mercedes Streeter and Raymond Lorenzo IV; and her great-grandson, Malaki Murtaugh. She is predeceased by her son, Raymond Lorenzo III. She also leaves behind her siblings, Kathleen (William) Leahey and Thomas (Patricia) Tighe; sisters-in-law, Suzanne Cucola and Patricia Cucola; as well as many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 Main St., North Syracuse, with a service to follow. Marie will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and love for family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
