Maria A. D'Amato, 86, of Syracuse went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, August 27th. Maria was born in Italy and moved to Caracas, Venezuela in her teen years, where she met the love of her life, Tisalvo, or as she lovingly called him, Alejandro. They moved to Syracuse in 1970 where she worked for 23 years at St. Joseph's Hospital. Maria was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who always put family first.
She enjoyed family time at the beach and tending to her rose gardens. When you came to visit the house, she always made you feel welcome and you never left hungry because cooking was her mission and feeding you was her style. Food is love.
Maria was predeceased by her husband, Tisalvo D'Amato.
She is survived by her two daughters, Silvana (Dominick) Bellucci and Maria Chirinos; grandchildren, Daniel (Lindsey) Chirinos, Jr., Andrea (Ben) Connor, Michael (Stephanie) Bellucci and Alexa (Deng) Gai; great-grandchildren, William, Samantha, Rachel, Lily, Emma, Ava, Marc and Jett; two sisters, Concetta and Rosa, both of Italy; many nieces and nephews; and we cannot forget, her loving fur babies and her Lillybird.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 2nd 10 AM-12 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 12pm. Entombment will be private for the family.
