Marguerite A. Finizio

January 5, 1930 — November 26, 2020

Marguerite Ann Finizio, born January 5, 1930, from Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.

She attended Syracuse University where she studied elementary education. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, spending time in Italy, Belgium, Barcelona, and Portugal. She met her Husband of 60 years, Gabriele Finizio, on a Medeterrainian cruise; they married in July of 1957.

She devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved cooking Italian meals for the entire family and hosted Sunday and holiday dinners. She taught her children and grandchildren to cook Sicilian recipes passed down from many generations. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, teaching them to read, and walking them to and from the school bus. In the winter she would meet them at the bus and pull them home in a sled. Spending time with family was her joy. She loved playing checkers and was a worthy opponent until the end. She enjoyed the simple things and truly knew what was important in life.

Ann is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gabriele Finizio, daughter Maria Finizio, her sister Domenica (Mamie) Fiorello, and her brothers Phillip and Anthony Fiorello.

Ann is survived by her son Antonio Finizio, daughter Linda Dwyer, son-in-law Wolfgang Dwyer, grandsons Kevin Alden, Tony Wallace, and Antonio Finizio; granddaughters Alyssa Dwyer, Renee Finizio, and Krystal Bessette; granddaughters-in-law Nicole Alden and Catherine Dwyer; great-grandsons James Alden, Liam Alden, and Miles Alden.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes others will consider building community by reaching out and performing acts of kindness for the elderly.
