Mardice Donn Arnold January 25, 1947 – August 28, 2023
MARDI was born in Syracuse to the late Donald M Arnold and Margaret (Fitch) Arnold. She was the second child of five, preceded in death by her brother Tom.
Her name came from a combination of her paternal and maternal grandmothers, Mary and Adrice
She graduated in 1965 from North Syracuse High and was a member of Alpha Mu Zeta sorority.
Mardi worked for US Airways retiring after 30 years. During that time, she was fortunate to be part of "Make A Wish" where she would escort families to the airport. While approaching retirement, she returned to college and became a registered nurse. She was employed by St. Joseph Hospital Health Center, working in the OR.
She is survived by her sisters; Lois Murphy of Syracuse, Sally (George) Daniels of Hudson FL, Debbie (Mike) Dennee of Spring Hill, TN, sister-in-law Barb Arnold of Nelson, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
One of the most generous people we knew, Mardi enjoyed buying gifts for others, and doting on her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She traveled extensively and was able to visit places like: Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Greece, Africa, Japan, and multiple trips to Hong Kong. Always up for something new, she took scuba diving classes, giving her the opportunity to explore the Cayman Islands. A true artist at heart, she enjoyed photography, ceramics, crocheting, cake decorating, and calligraphy. She even took an introductory class for flying a small plane! She was a member of the Song Mountain Ski Club, played tennis and billiards. She had a lifelong love for Siamese cats. Our family gatherings always included her spinach salad served in the giant orange bowl.
