Louise Eleanor Badgett, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4th. She was born in Sagola, Michigan on November 6, 1937. Louise was one of fourteen children born to the late Pauline and George Risse.
Louise married Thomas Parker Badgett, Jr. July 14, 1960. The couple resided in Syracuse and then Cleveland, NY, where they raised their family.
Louise was a devout Catholic and served as a Lector at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in East Syracuse. Most recently she led a Rosary Group at Buckley Landing.
She was an avid gardener and loved to grow flowers. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Louise will be remembered for her amiable nature. She was beloved for her spontaneous sense of humor and her memorable one-liners.
Louise was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Badgett; son, Jeffrey Badgett and nine of her thirteen siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Badgett McGehee and her husband, Randall McGehee; daughter-in-law, Renee Badgett, wife of the late Jeffrey Badgett; son, Michael Badgett and his partner, Lisa Lewis; grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Badgett and her partner, Brandon Kline, Michael Wade McGehee, Matthew Warren McGehee, James Evan McGehee and Thomas Jeffrey Badgett; great-grandson, Sam Michael Badgett; siblings, Marian Ketterhagen of Burlington, WI, Marcia Staub of Lancaster, PA, Janice Guillory of Thurmont, MD and Glenn Risse of Grand Rapids, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at 11am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 229 West Yates Street, East Syracuse, NY 13057 with inurnment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
