Louis A. "Louie" White, 87, formerly of Potsdam, passed away on Monday. He was born December 12, 1923 son of Louis and Lillian Bancroft White. He served in the 299th Army Engineering Battalion during WW II. He was a survivor of the D-Day Normandy Invasion. He was a 50 year member and past Fire Chief of the Potsdam Vol. Fire Dept. He was married to Catherine Sullivan White for 67 years. She passed away July 30, 2011.

Survivors are a son Michael (Carol) White, Clay; two daughters, Laura (Rick) VanDeusen, Malone; and Catherine (Don) Kuepper, Bridgeport; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A memorial mass will be on Saturday 9 am at St. Francis Assisi, Bridgeport.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Syracuse VA Hospital Cancer Wing.
