Lonnie J. Gates, 65, of Madison, NY passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 alongside his beloved dog, Rumble. He was born in Syracuse, NY to Lula and Donald Gates. Lonnie served in the United States Army for 4 years. During his time in the Army he was stationed in Alaska. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, hunting, fishing and lending a helping hand to others.
Lonnie was predeceased by a brother, Donald "Poncho" Gates.
He is survived by his parents, Lula and Donald Gates; two brothers, Michael (Danny) Gates and Robert (Catherine) Gates; several nieces and nephews; foster siblings, Dawn and Dawn.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 25th 12pm-3pm at the Hinsdale Fire Hall, 113 Malden Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Madison Fire Department, 7362 US-20, Madison, NY 13402.
