Loney J. Brown, 63, of North Syracuse passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, July 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He also resided in Pennsylvania and Germany before planting his roots and starting a family in Central New York.
Loney worked at the Syracuse Airport, where he refueled and de-iced nearly any and every airplane that flew there. He was proud to have met and befriended famous NFL players and musicians such as The Grateful Dead, Willie Nelson, and Frank Sinatra. From there Loney began a lawn and landscaping business. He took immense pride in his work, building his business all by word of mouth and relying only on his strong work ethic and determination to succeed as advertisement. Loney’s son Ryan, is still carrying on what his father started nearly 30 years ago. Loney greatly valued his customers and the friendships it created over the years. His attitude towards life was: Work Hard and Play Hard. He loved the outdoors and the pursuit of northern pike and whitetail. He enjoyed all forms of motorsports whether it was a NASCAR race, snowmobiling or boating, to cruising the backroads on his Harley Davidson. But most of all he enjoyed relaxing with his family by the pool. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Margaret “Margie” Brown, his son Ryan J. (Eva) Brown, two daughters Ashley Brown and Amy (Jake Hopps) Brown, five grandchildren Mandi, Kailin, Lilliana, Catherine, and Wesley, his dog Harley, his brother William “Billy” (Anne Cooper) Brown, his sister Shelley (Dion) Goolman, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Hart) Hobman and his father, William W. Brown.
Family and friends may call on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home at 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse.
