Linda has continued her adventures in her eternal home among friends and dancing on clouds. Linda left her earthly life August 20,2022 after a long battle with cancer. Cancer did not set limits on Linda's life, rather she looked to overcome the battle with grit and of course coffee! Linda lived a life filled with adventures, fun loving times and people who became her family. Linda was well served through her life by NYS OPWDD and her last residence, Eastgate, though it was a short time it was one where she was shown great care and respect. Linda was thankful for the E Colvin residence who welcomed her for her respite stay and made each moment count, especially her last birthday celebration. However, for those who knew her, E Genny will forever be Linda's home, her guiding star.
Over the years, Linda was part of the Westcott Nation, attending day program there and frequenting many establishments in the neighborhood, especially Mom's Diner. Linda had friends throughout the Central NY area and beyond. Wherever Linda went a party soon happened. Linda enjoyed movies, dances, vacations to numerous attractions, bowling, arts and crafts, music, dining out and especially having her coffee, and occasional "drink". Linda loved celebrating Thanksgiving with her close friend, Petra, her Mom and family. Linda looked forward to going out with her dear friend Mary and always liked picking the place to go and equally liked when friends would joined them. Linda looked to her friend, Mary, the nurse, to give her attention, stop by and visit and dry her eyes when she was upset or not feeling well. Every day was an opportunity for an event to happen and she lived for the adventure. For the years Linda lived at E. Genny, she would be referred to as The Queen. Life on most days would be orchestrated by Linda. She would playfully look to get Alicia going and keep the energy level high. Linda's friend, Ronnie would be called when Linda needed some help on the straight and narrow line as well as visiting and sharing a "drink", trying different restaurants or getting through the tough times with her illness. Linda was not one to be quiet and she celebrated with enthusiasm when someone she knew came to visit. She made you feel the love.
Linda lived her life in Syracuse and was predeceased by her parents, as well as her beloved partner of 42 years, Chuck McBride.
Linda is survived by a sister, Nancy Butler; brothers, Richard, Steven, and Jeffrey; As well as many nieces and cousins and especially her family at E. Genny, E. Colvin and Eastgate residences.
