Leonard E. Richardson, 91, of Central Square, passed away December 22, 2022. Leonard was born in Lycoming, New York on September 6, 1931 to Ernest and Ruth Richardson. He was a graduate of Oswego State then went on to join the Army National Guard out of Fort Drum. Leonard took great pride in joining the family business, Richardson and Sons hardware store, selling John Deere Tractors and supplies. He retired from Syracuse Supply, where he was employed as a Territory Manager for over a decade. Leonard was a patron of the Red Onion in Caughdenoy and was known to many as the "coffee and donut man." In his free time, he was an avid outdoorsman, partaking in hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. Leonard traveled all across the country in his RV with his love Lora and their many dogs. He had a sweet spot in his heart for animals, no matter the size or the kind.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lora M. Richardson; former wife, Edna Richardson; son, Douglas Richardson; parents Ernest and Ruth Richardson; siblings, Philip Richardson and Joyce Cummings.
Leonard is survived by his daughters, Sharon Burdick and Patricia (LeRoy) Owens; grandchildren, Tonya, Roy, Tiffany, Jason, Jennifer, Jason, Faith; and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Brian (Isabel) and Adrian (Diane) Richardson; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 at 11AM in North Syracuse Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Leonard's name to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation, 1717 K St NW, Washington, DC 20006 or a local animal shelter of your choice.
