Leo G. Hawke, 83, of North Syracuse died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Forty Fort, Pa., Mr. Hawke was a District Manager with American Chain & Cable for many Years. A veteran of WWII, he served with the 7th Armored Division where he received a Presidential Citation, the Medal of Verdun (France). He was a member of VFW in Mattydale and the American Legion in East Syracuse. He was a member of the Kingston Lodge #395 F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Syracuse, Pat Monarch, Keder Khan Grotto, M.O.V.P.E.R., & Charter Trustee of Northdale Elks Lodge #2454 in North Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife Pearle, two sons; George R. Hawke of New Jersey & John Rudy of Penneville, one daughter; Susan Rudy Koines of NJ, 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial park, Warners. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse.
Contributions in Leo's name may be made to the Shriner's Hospital and/or Cerebral Palsy Center.
