Mr. Lee Morris Whitehead, 78, of Syracuse, departed this life on July 31, 2023 at home after a long illness.
He was born in Americus, Georgia on October 2, 1944 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Whitehead in Americus GA. He was the youngest of 10 children. He came to Syracuse, NY as a young child. He formerly was a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He also worked as a recruiter for the National Guard. He worked at Eastern Airline for several years in Atlanta, Georgia. His love was his boys and grandchildren. He also enjoyed tennis, fishing, sports, filming, and photography. He was a devoted father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by five sisters, Grace Whitehead, Ernestine Jones, Christine Green, Elizabeth Whitehead, Cleta Mae Moore; one brother, Marcellus Whitehead; and son, Evail Williams. Lee leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memories, his ex wife, Doby Whitehead; two sons, Brian Whitehead (Ormond Beach, FL) and Greg Whitehead (Los Angeles); two granddaughters, Brielle and Auriela Whitehead; a grandson, Damon Williams; a niece raised as a sister, Gloria (Ronnie) Jackson (Fayettville, NC); a special friend, Myrtle Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse, NY and Friday, 10-11am at Living Waters Church of God in Christ, 121 Huron St, Syracuse, NY with a service at 11am.
